Building On Someone Else’s Foundation
When someone tries to take over another person’s destiny, they take on the benefits, challenges, and risks. These challenges are meant to be overcome with the help of God’s grace. Unfortunately, they may be too much for someone trying to take over without proper preparation. Instead of gaining the benefits, they may be overwhelmed by the responsibility. Ultimately, Lot, who was as prosperous as Abraham, lost his wealth and wife. Consequently, ending up worse off than when he left his homeland. The same lands that brought prosperity to Abraham took so much from Lot because he didn’t walk in God’s grace.
Genesis 13: 13-15: “Now the people of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the Lord. The Lord said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. “
Seek First The Kingdom Of God
Abram’s life serves as a powerful example of a believer who wholeheartedly entrusted everything to God, holding nothing back. Surrendering everything to God does not mean giving up but safeguarding all that is precious to us. In moments of weakness, God communicates with us in His all-knowing nature. In addition, he protects us and our most cherished possessions from destruction. Our journey with the Holy Spirit involves attuning and discerning His intentions as we navigate daily decisions. In hindsight, we realize how close we came to devastation by relying solely on our worldly reasoning and wisdom. Life is filled with unknown variables. In those moments, we must rely on faith and the guidance of the divine.
Psalm 127: 1-2
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain, you rise earlyย and stay up late, toiling for food to eatโย for he grants sleep to those he loves.
His Yoke Is Light
Unknown variables can often seem daunting, leaving us uncertain about the future. Yet, there is a comforting thought that whatever remains unknown has the potential to work in our favour. Such odds are greatly enhanced by the guidance of a higher power. It is reassuring that when fatigue sets in, we can rest, knowing that a vigilant presence watches over us. Our ability to establish a stable foundation for our house, home, or life hinges on our own stability.
What foundation are we standing on, fellow traveller? Will it stand the test of time and the unexpected?
Matthew 11:28 -29
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.โฆ
