Choosing with wisdom

Life’s great freedoms include choosing who we want to be and who we spend time with. If you can’t truly express yourself in a particular environment, it may not be the right place for you. You shouldn’t feel pressured to conform as long as your actions don’t cause harm to others. Especially if it means adopting harmful and toxic behaviours

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

The exchange of positive ideas can be challenging around unsupportive individuals. Seek out supportive people and start by seeking guidance from a higher power.

Proverbs 10:17 says, “Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.”

Teach and learn from those who are willing. Don’t take it personally if others aren’t interested in what you have to offer. Some words may be the key to someone’s “Eureka!” moment, but they may be meaningless to someone who isn’t looking for those answers. Just as God is merciful to all, only those who recognize their need to seek him receive the benefits of his mercy. It’s similar in human interactions.

James 3:17: “But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”

The Path To Life

A word may bring freedom and life to one heart, but it brings condemnation and death to another. One must be in the right frame of mind and at peace with the creator to seek his word. We are mere instruments. We don’t know the big picture, just the little parts we are assigned to paint.

Proverbs 1:5 says, “Let the wise hear and increase in learning, and the one who understands obtain guidance.”

Most importantly, choose your counsel wisely. Those we are drawn to reflect our inner thoughts, while those around us amplify our character. If we sense negative influences, we should examine our hearts to identify what resonates with these harmful influences.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

We can not change by changing friends because we will be drawn to different people, manifesting the same traits in those we leave behind. We must ask that our hearts be changed, and our desires will change instantly, including our choice of company.

Proverbs 19:20-21 says, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”
