The Intention of Education
Education was developed to enhance exploration, self-study, and personal drive through the progression of grades. At the tertiary level, instructors introduce the subject matter and its relevance, obliging students to pursue a deeper comprehension to foster a more intimate relationship with critical thinking and application and cultivate a culture of continuous learning. High-level examinations should consist of material expected to have been assimilated by self-motivated individuals. Acquiring a good education requires a significant investment. The sacrifice is made to obtain a return on investment and yield more significant dividends from life.
Dilution of Education
Regrettably, students commit to memory of previous exam papers to identify recurring patterns without acquiring actual knowledge or the aptitude to apply the subject matter. This results in learners becoming unimproved and unskilled. If educators were to merely evaluate the material they presented, they would graduate students with exceptional marks who possess only a partial comprehension of the subject matter and cannot apply or make positive contributions to their respective fields. These individuals will, however, remain vain and proud of their impressive certificates.
Facing Life Without Appropriate Skills
Our streets are often filled with graduates struggling to find employment and may attribute their difficulties to inadequacies in the education system. It is essential to recognize that achieving self-sufficiency requires a thorough understanding of the necessary rationale, processes, and efforts. Learning should be approached not simply as an ability to comprehend material but rather as a means of preparing oneself for the challenges that exist in the real world. To grow, it is essential to be ready to work diligently and carve out a unique path for oneself, even in the face of adversity. It is important to remember that every day allows one to choose the tools and assets to enable survival and foster a successful career.
The Spirit of Education
The increasing complexity of our world demands that future adults develop greater grit and ingenuity. Although some may attempt to exploit the system, life will ultimately catch them out. Those who choose the path of least resistance must realize that late payment incurs significant penalties and liabilities that must eventually be paid in full. Whether paying incrementally or all at once, the costs of shirking responsibility cannot be avoided.
Our global competition was baked by life and education, yet we think we have the same odds. How long will Africans think the world is sabotaging them and colonialization is the cause of all our problems?
The Letter of Education Without the Spirit
It is fascinating to witness the arrival of a more simplified education system, one that eliminates all competitor advantages. But how can we demand the best of ourselves if we’ve stripped away our capabilities? How can we ask for steak when we remove all our teeth? Shall we not choke on what is meant to sustain us? These past ten years have been a captivating observation of the human spirit, and the next two decades will be even more so. May the divine bless those who cherish their personal growth and embrace accountability. Trust in your journey, fellow traveller, for it is only a matter of time before you flourish.
Those who feel entitled often lack the resilience and humility to form a genuine connection with a higher power. Entitlement is one manifestation of pride. As parents, we must instil in our children a sense of stewardship and generosity so that they may grow into compassionate leaders and faithful servants. Remember, one cannot simply take without giving in return.
