The Sword Of The Spirit

Ephesians 6:10-13

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and, after you have done everything, to stand.

The bestowal of light and sight gives us the vision to see through reality’s distortions. We don’t use this insight to manipulate others. While it may be tempting, using such methods aligns with darker forces. In spiritual matters, the ends don’t justify the means. Our defences are light and truth. When we encounter distortions meant to harm the Kingdom, we shine a light on the darkness by speaking the truth about the true intentions and following God’s will, as revealed in the Word of God through Jesus Christ. The armour of God includes an offensive weapon, the sword of the Spirit.

The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God.

The Spirit of God empowers us to defeat spiritual strongholds. By using discernment and the Word of God, we can effectively counteract the enemy instead of always trying to defend ourselves. Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit is crucial for understanding and preempting the enemy’s plans, sparing us from constantly being on the defensive. Aligning our prayers with the Word weakens the enemy before their attack. We are only human, and our desires are not completely vanquished; they are only subdued. The sword of the Spirit also edifies us so our nature does not turn against God because the nature of the world still resides in us. Therefore, our mindset must continually evolve.

Praying For One Another

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

We must intercede for fellow believers, recognizing that the spirit can falter and one may lose their way. While the world marshals its forces against us, we remain unified in the Holy Spirit, who will lead our supplications and reveal when a believer is at risk. We can protect them from attempts to harm them and offer support to ensure their steadfastness.
