Numbers do not equate to progress.

In today’s society, getting caught up in the numbers game is easy. But let’s not fool ourselves – numbers do not always equate to progress. Instead, our focus should be on providing effective performance and services. Prioritizing quality over quantity is crucial, ensuring a higher chance of success. While it may be tempting to have a sizable team, it’s essential to consider each person’s contributions and skills before welcoming them onto the team. Being cautious and choosing your team members wisely is crucial. We must always be prepared to seize opportunities, but not at the expense of our goals. We must not run with those whose nature will undo our goals.

One wrong person can bring down everything.

Another aspect I loved about judges was the level of the leader’s obedience. Privilege comes with sacrifice. Yet many people have failed to be fruitful. They refuse to give up things that are not conducive to success. Many people would have tried to sneak in an extra inappropriate man or two to keep the numbers high. It could have been done secretly, yet it takes only one wrong person for a plan to fall apart. It is not an accident if God sends you on a mission alone or with a few. Don’t let the memes about teamwork allow the wrong people on your mission. Moses paid a great price for lack of selectivity by carrying the magnitudes.

It might be tempting to inflate numbers to impress others, but one bad apple can ruin everything. Take a page from Gideon’s book and prioritize selectivity. I often turn to this passage for guidance and encourage you to do the same.

Finding solace in providence

Starting small can be intimidating, but ensuring we have the right individuals to help us achieve our goals is often necessary. Remember, the absence of support or large numbers doesn’t determine failure. Sometimes, the universe has a way of aligning the right people in our circle, and less is truly more. Stay the course, remain steadfast in your goals, and above all else, choose quality over quantity. If you are alone during challenging times, it may be divine providence that the people around you are screened and vetted before they come into your circle.
