From Abraham to David, as well as Isaiah and Ezekiel, God’s faithful servants pressed forward in obedience, trusting that the Lord would guide and sustain them. They carried the weight of divine purpose; however, a shadow always loomed over them: they were born into sin. Because the spiritual laws set in motion by Adam and Eve’s fall bound them, their souls seemed lost after death. Nevertheless, they chose to die faithfulโanchored in the goodness of God.
๐๏ธ God’s Eternal Strategy
While evil plotted to destroy Christ, God in His vast wisdom never lost sight of His people. Instead of succumbing to the plan, God used it as the very avenue of redemption. Through crucifixion, Godโborn as manโentered the realm of the dead not as a victim, but as a victor. He reclaimed what rightfully belonged to Him: the souls of those who believed, even if they had never heard the gospel. Their faith, after all, was not in vain. The Shepherd never left His sheep behind.
“For this reason, the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might live according to God regarding the spirit.” โ 1 Peter 4:6
๐ก๏ธFaith Beyond the Grave
Let us, therefore, remain faithful even when death seems final. God demonstrates faithfulness not only in life but also in death, throughout the past, present, and future. His promises do not expire with our final breath. Moreover, no battle ends in defeat for those in the Lord, even when we can no longer fight. The Shepherd stands with His flock, refusing to abandon even one. Beyond this life, victory still belongs to us through our saviour. God transforms loss into victory.
๐ฅA Call to Endurance
With this in mind, let us be careful not to take offence when things seem irredeemable. Furthermore, let us not lose heart when the outcome appears bleak. For in the unseen, God works. Even in silence, He speaks. And in the grave, He claims victory. Although our efforts might not carry us far, His grace continues to bridge the gap.
