Why should I be the bigger person? Part 4

The woman got her infant back and put the terrible incident behind her. She left with faith in her king and her ability to function efficiently under duress. She learned something about herself and about the good and evil in people. Everyone except the malicious woman grew and evolved after the experience. That is why self-centred people seem psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually stunted and irrational. We must not allow such people near things we treasure. The woman with the baby would not allow such a woman in her life or near anyone’s child.

Being petty is more damaging to the perpetrator than the victims, who can walk away and block them off. Malicious people must live with themselves and the consequences of their actions. They will be surrounded by people who are toxic, lazy, manipulative, hateful or greedy enough not to see any problem with such severe dysfunction. Who also play their little games on the unsuspecting, complacent masses. Everything they touch fails to thrive. They may play to their advantage, but that destroys what they are playing for. They end up being kings and queens of illusions.

In a way, such a life is sufficient punishment. The resulting circus and adverse outcomes dressed up as success or progress are not enviable. What is worse is the toxic people appear oblivious to their disadvantaged state. Like the frog in gradually boiling water, they will never get out until cooked. Nobody wants to be played for a fool, but to watch people regularly do it to themselves is nothing short of divine punishment reserved for the proud and arrogant.

In the story of the “Emperor’s New Clothes,” manipulating the people not to speak up when they saw the emperor’s nakedness did not change the fact that he haughtily exposed his foolishness to his subjects. Except this time, there is no little boy to speak up. So everyone will laugh in private. The fake tailors duped the emperor because they were cut from the same cloth, literally and metaphorically speaking. If you spend your time with foolishness, it is only a matter of time before you manifest similar signs. If you think about it, being small-minded is a horrible punishment being meted out daily.

Yet it is still none of your business because you have genuine possibilities before you. All you must do is let go of the rubbish you did not create and let its rightful owner keep it as their alleged treasure. Some people may need more time to let go than others, depending on what was done to them. Like all things, it gets easier with time and repetition. Letting them go is liberating if they have nothing good to offer you. There is freedom in forgiveness. Never tie your destiny to people whose destinies are limited. They have taught you the lesson God saw fit for you to learn. It is time to close that chapter and move on to more fulfilling things.
